The EPA has found that indoor air can be several times more polluted than the air outside. A 20-year study by the University of Bergen linked the regular, long-term use of conventional cleaning products to a decline in lung function in women comparable, over that same period, to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day.
Why we formulate without parabens
Parabens are preservatives found in thousands of cosmetics. In 2004, a University of Reading study detected traces of parabens in 90% of the breast-tumour samples it analyzed. The study did not prove parabens cause cancer — its own authors said so — but it opened a conversation that's still ongoing. At Nouvie we'd rather not wait: as a precaution, our hair line is formulated without parabens or sulfates.
